Is there a 12-step group for compulsive writers?

Here we are again…

Well, operation save Helen's hair has begun. I just had it chopped, and it's now exactly as short as it was last November. But what a difference a year has made!

So it's not falling out en masse any more, and is in a very cute bob very similar to the one I had TWO novembers ago, but longer and with growing-out bangs. It feels more comfortable and looks more professional. I do like the long hair, but I'm tired of shedding more than my cat.

It was downright HOT today (tom, I adjusted your thermostat accordingly.) I spent a good chunk of the afternoon with and her family. R. is getting so cute, and when he went to the door and hollered “ook a da!” I immediately took an interest in looking at whatever it was he wanted us to look at. It's the first time I've heard him “talk,” and it was thrilling!

We went to Chiaroscuro last night and had a great time. We didn't costume-ize, but I've come up with something that will doubtless get in me trouble for next year.

Happy Halloween, everyone! I'm going to celebrate it by cleaning my place up and going grocery shopping.

Actual update

At tom's, so I can actually write something.. (someone else was here today, btw, it looks like.. there's a note and all.. just didn't know I was the only one keeping the little ones company)…

This past weekend in Philly was super busy but very nice. I had a set at Dark Corner, went fine upstairs, one downtempo and one 80s new wave, and another round downstairs that was plagued by all manner of discombobulation from both me and the deck, which refused to play my tapping the vein CD leaving us with nearly a full minute of dead air while I recovered, and another snafu which resulted in two Covenant songs being played within three songs of each other–but neither song is one you hear often.

I have found all my playlists finally and will post them tonight if my computer cooperates, otherwise I'll bring them here tomorrow and post them then.

It was so good seeing everyone again, and Dean and I got some good pics at Eastern State. The family gathering was cool, and we got family introduced to Dean.. guess that means it's serious. Heh. We'll be up again at thanksgiving and for philcon, so for everyone we missed… soon, luvvies, soon.

I'm reading when I can by clicking on various other peoples flists, and the cool thing about this is that I'm reading all kinds of new people and people I've missed for a while (points at Angel-renewed, for one)… and I'm keeping up with e-lists and google news again.

Now, off to secure 12 Monkeys. I'm buying it, because this is like the third time I will have wanted to watch it in less than a year, and I still love it.

Hope you're all well–miss you!

Here she comes now singing…

PNC has added VISA extras to its check cards. This, on top of the fact that they paid a bounced check a couple of months ago with no fees, and have added check imaging to their web services, has been enough to persuade me that I want to stay with them in spite of the fact that their closest branch is 100 miles from my home.

They have seriously given me outstanding customer service over the years, and when I recently had a problem with my account at my Virginia bank and called about it, I got the “well, that's your fault” runaround. Yes, I expect that, but the fact that I _don't_ get that from PNC speaks volumes about the difference between them and other banks.

Now, off to order new checks.

Schmeejay

Last night went really smoothly. I went for more mainstream alternative, a bit crunchier, and the crowd was fairly receptive. Next week we will be having an election party at City Tavern. There's been dudes hanging by the on ramp to 66 in the mornings and if I can get up early enough, I'm going to stop off and invite them and ask them to spread the word, cause of course being in a red state I want to have a blue party. And if Bush looks like he's winning, I'm playing “I'm afraid of Americans” at midnight. But all night long I'll be playing selections from “Rock against Bush” if I can turn this into a Kerry party. Ideas?

Reading hiatus

Absolutely nothing will be posted securely until I can resume reading regularly. I had pared the list down to make it manageable to read every few days, but upon reflection some of you are bound to think that this is an excuse to cut you from my filters. It's not drama, for pete's sake. Please don't leave. I promise to re-add all of you once I don't have to use 15 rounds of disk aid to boot my computer.

Hmmmmm…

My DJ night falls on election night. Tomorrow night I'm going to see if we can make it an election returns watching party. Or vigil, as the case may be.

Ding dong, the mac is dead…

Suggesting clean install at this point. Time to buy a new toy. Folks, this is a temporary measure, but the friends list is going to be utterly carved as a result of my lacking reading time. If you stay on, I'll re-add you once I can read at home again.

Safely n Philly

Have been superbusy, but gosh it was good to eat at Dahlak. I still wish she had given me an extra thing of lentils, dammit. next time I'll phrase it more delicately. Then hung out at 's. It was a riotous, laughter-filled hoot. My god, I love these people.

At Jennyfur’s…Maxx is staring at me piteously. The other three cats are sorta wondering what the heck is going on.

Off to take over the city. The day is going to be packed with things to see and I know fully well I won't catch up with everyone. Fear not. I'll be back over Thanksgiving (I think), and again for Philcon, so that's two trips in the next two months.

P.S.

Philly folks: There are so many of you that I want to see, but I'm missing a slew of phone numbers. Feel free to call me any time after about noon tomorrow. And could someone pass the word to Shok that I'm in town? I'm hoping to catch the afterparty that he will be at, but… there is SO much going on this weekend that I'm not sure I'll have my act together to make it unless someone calls me from there and says, “Here's how you get here…”

today's argh

panoply does not mean canon.

however, when you're talking about music, canon is an ambiguous word.
