Apparently I posted several comments on LJ anonymously without realizing it and then got this thing saying “Please prove you are human.”
I didn't figure it out until LJ was already convinced I was a spambot.
This was particularly funny because K and I had just listened to the first chapter of Dune on tape.

For the first time in about eight years, my car inspection cost me the car inspection fee and NOTHING MORE.

Ilse the VW is having her inspection done today, and of course everyone who's inspection expires today is having theirs done today too, so here it is 3 p.m. and I still haven't heard from them. I have to pick up K in an hour, and he's only a mile away, but it's going to be a little bit harder to do so if I don't have wheels. With my luck, I'll show up to borrow my car and they'll have it up on the rack right at that moment. Fleh.

All I need is $2,000 and a co-signer. I will deal with the homebuilding part later.
Yeah yeah, three days ago I was all about moving to the beach, but…

I don't mind if you share your opinions, but please don't state it like it should be mine, or I'll start telling all of you why you should accept Jesus Christ as your savior.

DFH made this for me months ago, but I'm just getting around to putting it up. It's because sometimes we'd run across a thing that would make DFH go hmmmm, and he sounds like a muppet when he does that particular kind of hmmm, and since it usually goes with things that make us go hmmmm, so this icon will be associated with things that make me go hmmm. You just have to imagine it as the Grover hmmm.

The Washington Post actually gives some useful information. According to this, they have identified the alleged shooter and are trying to find out whether he acted in self defense. It apparently is not clear whether they knew each other, which is kinda distressing.
The police puts out reports once a week, so I'll be sure to look up this week's to see if there is any more information.

1. I saved my kid from getting hauled into the Atlantic today, and in spite of the fact that he was never really in danger, I'm now a hero in his eyes. This is the third hit in a row of “I am a good swimmer despite years of neglecting that skill.”
2. I have discovered the Fairfax County RECenters have pools with lap swim hours.
Let's see how long it takes me to get up to 5000m a week. And if anyone would like to join me at Providence or Oak Marr, holler.

The only thing I've found on the shooting so far is This.
Anyhow, we're back and hungry, and so off to find food.

Lots of excitement around here this morning, and in the hubbub I forgot to thank WashingtonFeline for a lovely evening last night and Amaranthe for the boots, which arrived safely and fit great (good lord I'm tall in them).
