Is there a 12-step group for compulsive writers?

Oops, I memed it again

Published by Helen | Filed under Memery

Been a long, long time since I was tagged with one of these. I’m in Tampa, wishing I was home, but had a great time with some folks I haven’t seen in a long time last night. I do leave later on today, and I’m thinking it’s a yoga pants kind of day.

Anyhow, onto the meme, which came from Jennyfur
1. What are your nicknames?
Been called Helcat since about 1996 or so, when I adopted it as my IRC moniker since Helen was always taken. With Dean, we have a tradition of calling each other Punky (him) and Pooky (me), and that’s short form for Zen Punky and Zen Pooky.

2. What do you do before bedtime?
I tend to tune into Jon Stewart and twitter all the random brain chaff out of my head.

3. What fandom(s) are you most into at the moment?
I am totally drawing a blank. I’m a fan of my husband’s homebrew?

4. What is your favorite scent?
Lavender. Also, I don’t know why, but the bathroom air freshener at the Haymarket Sheetz evokes a particular olfactory memory that I cannot place. I also like waking up to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking, because that reminds me of my grandmother.

5. What videogames are you playing at the moment?
None, at the moment. But in general, these days I’m playing Final Fantasy X, Civilization III, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

6. What do you eat the most?
Bad things I need to write out of my gustatory lexicon. But I’m a huge fan of peanut butter-chocolate chip sandwiches. They only work on whole-grain bread.

7. Do you trust easily?
Not especially. I tend to keep a lot of folks at arm’s length. But I’m also a very public person, and that means I kind of write some of that off each year, knowing what to keep behind the lens.

8. What was your first big fandom?
Like Jenn, it was Duran Duran

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Not getting enough sleep, not getting enough downtime with my husband before being sucked into several conferences in a row.

10. Do you have a good body-image?
I’d feel better about my body if I knew I was eating better.

11. What’s one childhood item that you still have with you today?
I have a lot of photos and a stuffed doggy I won for selling a ton of Girl Scout Cookies.

12. What websites do you visit daily?
Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, various wordpress back-ends, sometimes Livejournal, Google Reader (which usually points me to even more sites), work pages, umm.. I’m one of those folks who spends many hours a day online.

13. Who are currently the most important people to you?
K, Dean, Rick, Julia, Jenn

14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Kind of my crazier flip side, the kid sister I always wished for.

15. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head?
Right now it’s Mr. Brightside.

16. What’s your favorite item of clothing?
My happy mod dresses. I want more of them.

17. What’s better: to give or to receive?
To share!

18. What turns you on in the opposite gender?
Hard to say, I seem to have two types and Dean fits a bunch of them–slender, nonconformist, light-eyed with dark brows

19. What would you like to achieve within the next 3 years?
Finish my degree in Public Administration, roll out my own business, get AFCEA’s online properties really kicking, and… um… purple hair. That’s a dream.

20. What should you be doing right now?
Getting dressed, finding some breakfast, packing to leave. Definitely not meming.

21. Do you always use conditioner when washing your hair?
Generally. Sometimes I don’t so that it’s a little easier to style, cause conditioning makes it kind of slick. The longer it gets, the more I can’t get away with not conditioning it.
